PHF receives overwhelming response for National U15 hockey Registration Portal
ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (APP):The Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) National U-15 Hockey Registration Portal has received an overwhelming response from schools and young hockey stakeholders across the country, marking a key step toward reviving hockey at the grassroots level.
According to the latest data available on the portal, 791 schools from across Pakistan have registered to be part of the National U-15 Hockey Development Program. Of these, 753 applications have been approved while 38 schools are currently under review. No school application has been rejected so far, said a press release.
During the registration drive, 1,057 players in the U-15 category enrolled, with 960 players approved, 96 applications under review, and only 1 application rejected. In addition, 43 coaches also registered on the portal, of whom 36 have been approved and 7 are under consideration.
In total, 1,100 individuals, including 1,057 young players and 43 coaches, have registered on the portal. This has resulted in the creation of a large digital database of emerging U15 hockey talent in Pakistan.
The initiative aims to provide schools with a structured process for forming and developing U15 hockey teams, identifying talented boys and girls, linking them with trained coaches, and ultimately preparing top players for national teams.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has set a target to expand school hockey across the country. Registered schools included in the program will receive hockey equipment and kits within the next two to three weeks, enabling them to form teams and take part in regular training and competitions.
The project is part of the ‘National U15 Schools Hockey Development Program’, which seeks to bring hockey back to schools.
The PHF has also planned to hold the ‘National U15 Boys and Girls Hockey Championship’ from November 12 to 22, to give young players an opportunity to showcase their talent at the national level.
