ISLAMABAD, Jun 07 (APP): The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), in collaboration with the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), has launched a comprehensive Coaching Education Programme aimed at establishing a modern, standardized and internationally aligned coaching system across the country.
The programme, which forms part of PHF’s broader strategy for the revival and long-term development of hockey, will begin on July 5, 2026, at the Islamabad Sports Complex.
According to a PHF press release issued here Sunday, the initiative will be implemented in phases to ensure participation from all regions of Pakistan. In the first phase, coaches from Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu & Kashmir will take part in the programme.
The federation said the project is designed to strengthen the foundation of hockey development by introducing a unified coaching framework, improving technical expertise and promoting consistent coaching methodologies at grassroots, developmental and elite levels.
PHF has invited nominations of eligible coaches through provincial hockey associations, sports departments, educational institutions and other relevant stakeholders. Interested candidates can submit their applications through a dedicated online form available on the official websites of PHF and PSB.
To encourage wider participation, boarding and lodging facilities for selected candidates will be jointly arranged by PHF and PSB.
The programme is expected to focus on coach development, talent identification, modern training techniques, sports science applications and long-term athlete development pathways, all of which are considered essential for rebuilding Pakistan’s hockey structure.
The federation has also sought support from the Higher Education Commission, provincial sports authorities, hockey associations, educational boards and other relevant organizations to ensure broad representation from across the country.
PHF officials expressed confidence that the initiative would help produce a new generation of qualified coaches equipped with contemporary knowledge and skills to deliver modern hockey education and training.
They said the programme would play a vital role in strengthening the country’s coaching network and contribute significantly to the revival and sustainable growth of Pakistan hockey.
For further information, PHF has asked interested individuals to contact its Technical Director High Performance and Development, Tahir Zaman, through the federation’s designated communication channels.
