PHF announces new adhoc committee to revitalize national sport

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP): The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the strategic formation of an Adhoc Governance and Management Committee.
This initiative marks a structural shift designed to modernize the administration and elevate the standards of hockey across the nation, said a press.
In a significant move for technical excellence, legendary Olympians Hassan Sardar and Islahuddin will co-chair the Professional Development Committee. Their mandate includes overseeing national team selection, specialized training protocols, and establishing rigorous benchmarks for coaches and players. The long-term management selection will be made by the Professional Advisory Committee co-chaired by ex-Olympians Islahuddin and Hassan Sardar. Additional membership of this committee will be made in consultation with these two legends.
To ensure specialized oversight, the PHF has separated corporate governance, marketing, and resource mobilization from technical hockey operations. The newly appointed committee members include Capt. Farrukh Atique: HR and Finance, Shakeel Shah (Member Customs): Departmental Coordination and Outreach, Amir Ibrahim (CEO Jazz): Corporate and Marketing Support, Ghulam Ali Mallah (ED IBCC): School and College Sports Promotion, Brig. (R) Akmal Aziz: Services and Institutional Coordination.
All members of the Governance Committee will work on an honorary basis, dedicating their expertise to revive and elevate Pakistan’s hockey.
“This is an interim roadmap to correct the direction. There is no shortcut for success, but clear direction and seriousness of effort will be visible,” said a PHF spokesperson.
“We will mobilise all institutions to connect hockey at the grassroots level,” added the spokesperson.
These structural reforms reflect the PHF’s commitment to transparency and professional merit, ensuring the “National Game” receives the corporate and technical expertise required for a global comeback.
The PHF is confident that these changes will bring about a positive transformation in the sport and restore Pakistan’s hockey to its former glory.
