PESHAWAR, Apr 02 (APP):Peshawar and Kohat clinched the title of the Men and Women Inter-Divisional Judo Championship organized by District Sports Officer with the collaboration of District Administration, District Govt and KP Judo Association at Mardan Sports Complex on Tuesday.
The defending champions Peshawar won 5 gold medals in the Men’s Judo Championship, however in women category Kohat won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals and Peshawar stood second with 1 gold, 2 Silver and 2 bronze medals.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Dr. Qasim Ali Khan was chief guest. Mardan Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, President KP Judo Association Masood Ahmad, General Secretary Muhammad Jalal were also present.
The Championship was part of the District Mardan Sports Festival organized by District Sports Officer Mardan. Superintendent of Police (SP) Operation Mardan Mushtaq Khan formally inaugurated the Championship.
ADC Dr.Qasim Ali Khan said that Regional Sports Office is making all out efforts for the promotion of all games in the Division. He said it is good that all the Martial Arts including Taekwondo, Wushu, Karate and now Judo. He said holding such event, talent would come up to perform at national and international level.
He said that sports now a days has attained new heights in the world.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that holding of this event would certainly help raising the standard of Judo and other games in Mardan.
Qasim Ali Khan said that all possible measures are being taken by Regional Sports office to provide maximum sporting facilities to the provincial players.
Speaking on this occasion, Kashif Farhan said that he has provided all financial help to the association during Taekwondo, Wushu and Judo. He also lauded KP Judo Association for their cooperation during the event.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies, cash prizes, medals, trophies and certificates to the players for registering various positions in different weight categories.
