PCB appoints Mike Hesson as white-ball head coach

LAHORE, May 13 (APP):The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Kiwi Mike Hesson as head coach of the Pakistan Men’s cricket team in the white-ball cricket.
Mike Hesson will take over the coaching role on May 26 soon after the final of PSL X on May 25.
As per the PCB media release here on Tuesday, Hesson comes in to fill the post after evaluation of numerous applications received against the vacancy, which fell vacant after Pakistan men’s team tour to New Zealand in April.
Known for his illustrious career as the most successful New Zealand head coach, Mike Hesson took New Zealand Men’s team to new heights between 2012 and 2018. As head coach, he led the New Zealand Men’s team to finish runner-up at the 2015 ICC men’s ODI World Cup. He also served as the head coach of Kenya and other international and domestic teams. He has been working as the head coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United since 2023 and took coached them to victory in PSL 9 edition.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in his welcome note to the incumbent head coach, said “I am pleased to announce the appointment of former New Zealand cricketer and renowned coach Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach of the Pakistan men’s team.
“Mike brings with him a wealth of international experience and a proven track record of developing competitive sides. We look forward to his expertise and leadership in shaping the future of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket. Welcome to the team, Mike!”
