KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, Jan 13 (APP): The Pakistan U-19 Women’s cricket team secured a convincing 11-run victory against Nigeria in their opening warm-up match for the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia on Monday.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a modest total of 105 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Fatima Khan emerged as the top scorer, contributing a solid 28 runs from 39 balls. Ravel Farhan provided crucial support with 23 runs off 37 balls.
Other notable contributors included Zofshan Ayaz (13 runs), Manahel (10 runs) and Areesha Ansari (7 runs). Komal Khan scored 4, while Tayyaba Imdad and Maham Anis remained unbeaten with 2 and 3 runs respectively.
In response, Nigeria’s team was restricted to 94 runs for 6 wickets. Qara Al-Ain was particularly impressive, taking 2 wickets while conceding just 9 runs in her 4-over spell.
The win provides a promising start for Pakistan’s young cricketers as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup tournament.
