ISLAMABAD, Jan 17 (APP):Three Pakistani judokas will leave for Hungary early next month to attend a two-month training course, arranged by International Judo Federation (IJF).
“The training will be held at Dunavarsany, which is one of the finest Olympic training centres in Hungary,” Secretary Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), Mansoor Amed told APP on Wednesday.
He said the training had been arranged by the IJF to help countries from around the world to prepare their judo athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
He said the standard of judo in the country was improving and there was a pool of good judokas now. “We’ve decided to send only those judokas for training, who have put an impressive performance in the national and international events in the
recent past”, he added.
He said the federation wanted to give maximum exposure to country’s top judokas ahead of the Olympics. “We’ve the support of IJF and the training in Hungary would be held with its financial support,” he said.
He said the IJF would cover accommodation, meal and training cost, while PJF would bear the travelling cost.
