ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP): A four-member Pakistan team will be participating in the WTF World Taekwondo Junior Championship scheduled to be held at Burnaby, Canada in November.
Talking to APP, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), President Waseem Ahmed, said the championship will be held from November 16 to 20 in Canada. “The four-member team will also be accompanied by a manager and coach in the event,” he said.
He said we have applied for the NOC to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to participate in the championship. “We have also requested for a special grant amounting to rupees one million for the participation in the event,” he said.
Speaking about the 11the Korean Ambassador Under-15 and Under-17 National Junior (male & female) Taekwondo Championship to be held here at the Pakistan Sports Complex from October 26, he said this will be the biggest Junior National event because as more than 450 athletes and officials will participate in it.
The championship is being organized by the Korean Embassy. Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Dr. Akthar Nawaz Ganjera has assured full support for the event by providing Taekwondo gymnasium, accommodation and other facilities.
“Besides provinces and departments, other renowned clubs will also participate in the event. The basic aim of this tournament is to identify new young talent and polish it for Olympic Qualification round scheduled to be held in early 2020 at Tokyo, Japan,” he said.
