Pak hockey team to leave for China on Sep 21

ISLAMABAD, Sep 14 (APP): The national hockey team would depart for China on September 21 to feature in the Asian Games scheduled to be held in China.

The training camp of the national team to prepare for the mega event was underway here at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

The National Hockey Team Manager Saeed Khan said for better results in the Asian Games, the training camp of the national team was ongoing in two sessions at the Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium.

Khan said under the supervision of head coach Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh, special attention has been given to the players and we are hopeful that the Pakistan hockey team will be displaying top-notch performance in the Asian Games.

To a question, Khan said the team management has requested the for replacement of the unfit players but no decision has been made yet in this regard.

In the event starting from September 24, Pakistan and traditional rival India teams were included in Pool A, while Japan, Bangladesh, Singapore and Uzbekistan were in Pool B.
Pakistan team would play Singapore on September 24, Bangladesh on September 26 and Uzbekistan on September 28.

The match between traditional rivals Pakistan and India was scheduled for September 30, while the Green Shirts would play the final pool match against Japan on October 2.

The semifinals of the Asian Games men’s hockey event will be played on October 4 and the final on October 6.
