Olympics: Rio Games opening ceremony starts

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 6 (APP/AFP) – The Rio Olympics opening ceremony  got under way at the iconic Maracana Stadium on Friday, kicking off a four-hour celebration to herald the 31st Olympiad.

Dozens of heads of state were among a crowd of thousands as the  ceremony started with fireworks and a dance by performers.
