MULTAN, Oct 21 (APP):The call for establishing a separate Hockey Board under the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is gaining momentum, with national team manager and 1994 World Cup winner Olympian Muhammad Usman voicing strong support for the proposal.
Echoing the stance of PHF President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti, Usman described the creation of a dedicated Hockey Board as “the need of the hour” to ensure financial discipline and improve administrative efficiency in the sport.
He noted that persistent financial constraints have long plagued the federation, hampering the growth of hockey in Pakistan. A separate board, he said, could offer a sustainable solution by effectively utilizing hockey stadiums and facilities nationwide to generate consistent revenue.
“With a steady financial system, the sport will no longer rely on external support. Stable resources will translate into better training, motivation, and ultimately stronger performances from our players,” Usman remarked.
In response to a question about the national team’s recent form, the manager expressed optimism, highlighting the players’ dedication and ongoing progress as promising signs for the future of Pakistan hockey.
