ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP):Pakistan’s rising squash star Noor Zaman pulled off a sensational upset at the $74,000 Open Squash Classic 2025 in the United States, defeating fifth seed and World No. 20 Grégoire Marche of France to storm into the quarterfinals of the PSA Bronze Level event.
In a thrilling five-game battle lasting 75 minutes, Noor displayed remarkable composure and resilience to overcome Marche 3-2 with game scores of 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10.
Noor started strongly, taking the opening game with aggressive front-court play before Marche fought back to level the contest. Both players traded games in a tense encounter that went down to the wire, with Noor saving match points in the deciding fifth game before clinching victory 12-10 to seal one of the biggest wins of his professional career.
With this victory, Noor, the grandson of Pakistan’s squash legend Qamar Zaman, has qualified for the quarterfinals where he will take on fourth seed Leonel Cardenas of Mexico, currently ranked World No. 15.
