ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Pakistan hockey is set to enter a new phase with the launch of the Pakistan Hockey League (PHL) in the first quarter of 2027, a move aimed at giving fresh impetus to the revival of the national sport.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), in collaboration with its partners, is working on the league with a focus on creating more opportunities for young and emerging players and providing them with a professional platform to showcase their talent.
According to PHF officials, the league will also help strengthen the game at the grassroots level, provide professional coaching and improve the overall administrative and competitive structure of Pakistan hockey.
The officials said greater international exposure for players would be another important feature of the initiative, helping young talent gain experience and prepare for the demands of international hockey.
They said preparations for the Pakistan Hockey League 2027 had already been stepped up, with the PHF determined to make the league an important part of its long-term plan for the revival of the national game.
“The revival of Pakistan hockey has already begun, and we are committed to taking it forward in a sustainable manner,” the officials said.
The federation expressed confidence that the league would help create a stronger pool of players and contribute to restoring Pakistan hockey to its former standing on the international stage.
