The 1st Meinhardt Grade A+ National Ranking Tennis Championships continued at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, on Tuesday, with leading national players advancing in their respective events.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (APP): The 1st Meinhardt Grade A+ National Ranking Tennis Championships continued at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, on Tuesday, with leading national players advancing in their respective events.
In the Men’s Singles first round, Saqib Hayat defeated Aqil Khan 6-1, 6-1, while M. Haziq Aasim beat Haziq Areejo 6-1, 6-1. Mudassir Murtaza overcame Razik Sultan 6-2, 6-0, and Aqeel Khan defeated Ahmad Babar 6-2, 6-2.
Muzammil Murtaza also advanced with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Ahmad Chudary.
In the Men’s Doubles first round, Shehryar Anees and M. Hamza Aasim defeated Hamza Rehmat and Uzair Khan 6-3, 6-2.
The Ladies’ Singles first round also witnessed one-sided encounters, with Areem Salman defeating Inaya Masood 6-0, 6-0, Rumaisa Malik beating Anaya Khan 6-0, 6-1, and Esha Jawad blanking Pareesay Bilal 6-0, 6-0.
Bismal Zia defeated Madiha Latif 6-0, 6-0, Zara Khan beat Maria Ahmed 6-0, 6-0, while Maheen Zahra overcame Unayyzah 6-1, 6-0.
Mahrukh Sajid defeated Manha Khalid 6-0, 6-2, Khadija Khalil beat Zainab Imran 6-0, 6-0, and Hajra Sohail defeated Lalarukh Sajid 6-1, 6-0.
Zaira Ahmad Zaka staged a comeback against Fatima Ali Raja to win 2-6, 6-0, 6-0. Zainab Ali Raja defeated Shandana Rabi 6-0, 6-0, while Wania Khalid Raja advanced with a walkover against Mahnoor Bilal.
Hamda Fatima beat Bakhtawar Haider 6-0, 6-0, and Mahin Aftab Qureshi defeated Saema Tehseen 6-0, 6-0.
In the Boys’ 18 & Under Singles, Shayan Afridi defeated Haziq Ali Areejo 6-0, 6-4, while Ahmed Hussain recovered from losing the opening set to beat Moazzam Babar 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Other winners included S. Hamza Hussain, M. Rayan Khalil, Ahmed Fareed Yawar, Muhammad Hassan, Razik Sultan, Inam Qadir and Abdul Basit. Umair Ali and M. Faizan advanced through walkovers.
In the Boys’ 14 & Under Singles, Behroze Maimoon, Mustafa Saud, Salar Khan, M. Ayyan, Hassan, M. Ibraheem Gill, Shayan Afridi, Rayan Umar, M. Zalan Khan, M. Muaz, Majid Ali, Hashir Adeel and Ahmed Farid registered victories in their opening-round matches.
The Boys’ 12 & Under Singles first round saw victories for M. Aayan, Arham Khan, Riyan Umar, Behroze Maimoon, Amir Masood, Ibrahim Leghari, Hashir Mustafa, Salar Khan, Umar Toheed, M. Faizan, Ashtar Alam and Ibraheem Hussain Gill.
The championship has attracted more than 400 entries across 11 categories, including Men’s and Ladies’ Singles and Doubles, junior events in different age groups, and Men’s 40+ and 50+ Doubles.
A total prize purse of Rs 2 million will be distributed among the participating players.
President Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Secretary General Zia-ud-Din Tufail have conveyed their best wishes to all participants and expressed confidence that the championship would provide high-quality competitive tennis and an opportunity for players to improve their national rankings.
The PTF leadership also appreciated Muhammad Yousaf Gandapur, Country Director, Meinhardt Pakistan, and the Meinhardt management for supporting the national championship and contributing to the development of tennis in Pakistan.
