National Ranking Tennis C’ships kicks off

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (APP): The 1st Meinhardt Grade A+ National Ranking Tennis Championships kicked off here at the PTF Tennis Complex, on Saturday, featuring the participation of the country’s leading tennis players in the tournament.

Top national players, including Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murtaza, Muhammad Shoaib, Barkatullah, Mudassir Murtaza, Hamza Roman, Abubakar Talha, Ahmad Nael Qureshi, Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab Qureshi, and Shayan Afridi, are competing in the championship.

The tournament has received an overwhelming response, with more than 400 entries registered across 12 different categories, including Men’s Singles-Men’s Doubles-Ladies’ Singles-Ladies’ Doubles-Boys’ 18 & Under Singles-Boys’ 14 & Under Singles-Girls’ 14 & Under Singles-Boys’ 12 & Under Singles-Girls’ 12 & Under Singles-Men’s 40+ Doubles-Men’s 50+ Doubles.

A total prize purse of PKR two million will be distributed among the participating players.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), and Col. Muhammad Zia-ud-Din Tufail (Retd.), Secretary General PTF, extended their best wishes to all the participating players and expressed hope that the championships would provide a highly competitive platform for players across the country.

The PTF leadership also thanked Muhammad Yousaf Gandapur, Country Director, Meinhardt Pakistan, and the management of Meinhardt for their valuable support in organizing the championships and providing Pakistani players with an excellent opportunity to compete at the national level.
