MALAKAND, Jun 11 (APP):A national-standard hockey championship got underway at the newly developed hockey stadium in Thana Baizai, District Malakand, marking a significant milestone for sports development in the region.
Organized with the support of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the event aims to provide young athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent, engage in healthy competition, and encourage greater participation in sports activities.
The opening day witnessed enthusiastic participation and competitive matches as local hockey clubs displayed skill and determination on the field.
Spectators gathered in large numbers to support the teams and celebrate the revival of hockey at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the occasion, District Sports Officer Saeed Akhtar said the government remains committed to creating opportunities for young players and improving sports infrastructure across the province.
He noted that such events play an important role in discovering emerging talent and steering youth towards constructive and productive activities.
