National badminton championship gets underway

LAHORE, Jan 05 (APP): A heavy programme was gone through on the opening day of the 55th Badminton National Badminton Championships and a number of matches were decided here at the Gymnasium hall Punjab University New Campus.
Seventeen Men and Eleven Women teams are participating in national premier badminton activity being organised by Pakistan badminton federation.
Pakistan Wapda is defending champion of both male and female evednts , in men’s singles Awais Zahid (Wapda) and Mahoor Shahzad (Wapda) will defend the titles.
More then 200 players male and female belonging to teams including a Sindh, Punjab, KPK, Balochistan, Islamabad, AJK, Wapda, NBP, SNGPL, PTCL, KPT, PMAD, Pakistan Railway, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Police,and FATA are showcasing their talent in the competition.
