Naqas of Islamabad Golf Club leads 2nd Day in 25th KP National Ranking Golf Championship

PESHAWAR, Dec 27 (APP): Naqas of Islamabad Gold Club led the second day with his gross scorer 136 over 36 holes of the 54-hold 25th KP National Ranking Opening Golf Championship being played here at PAF Golf Course on Sunday.

Naqas was struggling behind the leader Ansar Mehmood of Pakistan Navy with two strokes different but he bounced back and got a two stroke lead by recovering four stroke difference with his elegant 68 round.

Hitting 68 on the opening day, Naqas scored 136, eight under par, followed by Anwar Mehmood with his gross score 138, six under par. Naqas hit a vital 36, par at front nine and 23, three under par, at back nine.

Ansar Mehmood added 72, to his overnight 66 to make 138, six under par, 38 at front nine and 34, at back nine with four birdies and one bogy while Naqas scored six birdies and one bogy. Anwar Mehmood, who was the leader on the first day was slipped to second behind the leader Muhammad Naqas.

International golfer Shabir Iqbal added 68 to his overnight score 71 to make an aggregated total of 139, five under par over 36 holes. He scored four boundaries and missed a stroke on three different holes. He carded 35, one under par, at front nine and 33, three under par, at bank nine.

Muhammad Arif of PAF Golf Club also made 139 and was sharing the position with Shabir Iqbal while international golfer Hamza Amin carded 140, four under par. Muhammad Nazeer and Muhammad Munir, who recently won the Pakistan Open with prime, carded 140 and 143, Wisal Khan (145) and Zahir Shah (146) were the other leading golfers.

In the subsidiary matches comprising the Senior Amateur Col. ® Saud Khan got first position with his gross score 76, followed by Sqn Ldr ® Idrees Khalid (82) and Col. ® Shahadat Hussain (83) while in the Net Azhar Ul Habib got first position, followed by Dr. Shahkar A Shah and Abdul Haq.

In the Veteran Yousaf Marwat, Dr. Wilayat Syed and Col. ® and Saifullah were the position holders. In the HCP 11-18 Amateur Asfandiyar with his gross score 80 took the trophy, followed by Wg, Cdr Shahbaz with (82) and Rehmat Ullah (84) over 18 holes while in the Net category of the same Dr. Sami Shinwari (66) got first position, followed by Col. Azhar Ayub Kiani (68) and Saqib Samad (68). In the Senior Pro Imdad Hussain got first position, followed by Ghaffar Ahmad (73) and Noor Khan of Bank of Khyber with gross 76.
