ISLAMABAD, Jan 05 (APP): Muzammil Murtaza and Amna Ali Qayum clinched the Men’s and Ladies’ Singles titles, respectively of the 10th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championships at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, Islamabad
on Sunday.
Murtaza delivered a commanding performance, defeating Muhammad Shoaib 6-3, 6-2 in the Men’s Singles final.
In the Ladies’ Singles, Amna Ali Qayum showcased her skill and composure, overcoming Soha Ali 6-3, 6-4 to secure the championship title.
In the Boys’ Under-14 category, rising star Hassan Usmani triumphed over Ruhab Faisal with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory. Meanwhile, in the Boys’ Under-12 final, Shayan Afridi defeated Rashid Ali 6-1, 6-0, cementing his place as a promising young talent.
The closing ceremony was attended by dignitaries and tennis enthusiasts. Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Pakistan, attended the event as chief guest, while Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, Patron of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), served as guest of honour.
A moment of silence was observed during the ceremony to honour the passing of the father-in-law of PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.
Highlighting young talent, a cash award of Rs. 25,000 was presented to Hassan Usmani for his outstanding international performances in Saudi Arabia and Aghabat.
Additionally, veteran coach Mahboob Khan was honoured with a shield for his decades-long dedication to nurturing tennis in Pakistan.
