Mahrukh wins Open Rock Climbing

ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (APP): Mahrukh Mahmood earned victory in the Pakistan Open Rock Climbing Competition organized by the Adventure Club of Pakistan here at the Jasmine Corner Rocks at Maragallas.

In the open competition, Adventure Club’s Mahrukh Mahmood stood first, Almas Karim was second while Iqra Naseem got third position.

In the Under-18 category, Iqra Jilani (Adventure Club, 1st), Gul Tahira (Gosha e Mashal, 2nd) and Maira Jabbar (Adventure Club, 3rd). In the Under-15 category, Gosha e Mashal club’s Kiran Khan (1st), Saba Nazeer (2nd) and Neelam Aziz (3rd).

In the Under-12 category, Gosha e Mashal club’s Shamsa Khan (1st), Uzma Gul (2nd) and Nimra (3rd). In the males competition, Mushahid Shah of Islamic University stood 1st while Shahzad Butt and Asadullah of Adventure Club took 2nd and 3rd positins, respectively.

At the occasion, the chief guest was Hassan Asad Sadpara who is the only Pakistani to climb 6 eight thousand meters high peaks including Mount Everest and K2.

He distributed the awards as well as delivered an inspiring address to encourage youth for healthy adventure activities.

Esam Khattak, Managing Director, Ibex Club was also present at the occasion.

Tahir Imran Khan, President of the Adventure Club announced free one year club’s membership (Rs 500) and offered a free training course (Rs 4,500) to all position holders. He also announced the holding of 10th IWD 2016 Pakistan Open Sport Climbing Competition on March 8 which would complete its 10 years since its inception in 2007 and going to be a grand event.
