LGS unveils Islamabad United’s logo for PSL

ISLAMABAD, Dec 20 (APP): LEONINE Global Sports (LGS) on Sunday unveiled their logo for Islamabad United’s team for the first edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), saying that it is the mark of the unity of entire country.

The logo jointly unveiled by franchise owner of Islamabad United Ali Naqvi and Project Head PSL Salman Sarwar Butt at a simple ceremony here at Islamabad Club projects a fearless and non-beatable attitude of a team that would fight like a lion.

“Our logo symbolizes bravery, courage, power and aggression,” Ali Naqvi told media at the logo unveiling ceremony.

“We are excited that we are unveiling Islamabad United’s logo in the heart of Capital.

LGS and Islamabad United will work towards delivering a sustainable eco-system for the promotion of cricket and our lovely city of Islamabad through this partnership with Pakistan Cricket Board and PSL,” he said.

“Our logo embodies the spirit of our fans, the city of Islamabad and our team. Besides it shows that as a nation we (Pakistani people) are all united. We are brave and courageous people,” he remarked.

Speaking on the occasion, Salman Sarwar Butt said the PSL management and its franchises were unveiling logos of different teams one by one. “It is indeed a landmark day in the sporting history of our federal capital which marks the unveiling of Islamabad United’s team logo and brings another exciting addition on the global cricketing map.

The entire PSL team welcomes them on-board for a thrilling journey,” he said.

Islamabad United has already announced the appointment of former fast bowler Wasim Akram as its Director Cricket and the popular Australian cricketer Dean Jones as the team’s head coach.

“Wasim Akram is a globally acclaimed Pakistani cricketing icon, who needs no introduction whatsoever and we are elated that he has chosen to be a part of Islamabad United,” remarked Ali Naqvi.

Wasim Akram, in a statement said, “I am very excited that Pakistan Super League is about to happen and that I am part of Islamabad United. While I wish that all teams perform well, PSL will be all about proving competitive at an international level within Pakistan and in the international arena. I am truly happy to be working with Islamabad city also as it is a city I have always loved.”
