LAHORE, Jan 28 (APP):Lahorites on Sunday took to the streets as Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 18 runs after which the Green Shirts clinched number one position in the ICC T20 international cricket rankings.
Hundreds of cricket fans thronged to the busy Mall road, Liberty
Market, Anarkali, Azadi Chowk and other areas of the city, carrying a special 70-foot long national flag here.
They were chanting slogans of Pakistan Zindabad (Long Live Pakistan) and in favour of the players.
The cricket-lovers were also carrying placards inscribed with slogans in favour of captain Sarfaraz, Shadab who has been named Man of the Match, and pacer Mohammad Aamir, who was declared the Man of the Series.
Meanwhile, various cricket clubs and cricket fans announced a warm welcome for the team green on their home return.
