Lahore Qalandars reach Guyana for GSL
ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP):Lahore Qalandars have arrived in Guyana ahead of the ExxonMobil Global Super League (GSL) 2026, with franchise owner Atif Rana reaffirming the team’s long-term commitment to developing Pakistan’s next generation of cricketers through international exposure.
In a statement issued here, Rana said the GSL squad has been built around young and emerging talent, providing promising Pakistani players with the opportunity to showcase their abilities on the global stage and prepare for future international careers. “Our squad is based on youth and emerging talent. These players will gain invaluable international exposure, helping them develop into future stars and valuable assets for Pakistan cricket,” Atif Rana said.
He added that another key objective of the tour is to strengthen Pakistan’s fast-bowling resources under the guidance of head coach Shaun Tait. The former Australian fast bowler’s vast coaching experience, particularly in developing pace bowlers, will play an important role in nurturing the country’s next generation of fast bowlers.
The Lahore Qalandars will be led by experienced New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell, whose appointment as captain was described by Team Director Sameen Rana as a strategic decision.
The Global Super League will be held from July 23 to August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium, featuring champion franchise teams from around the world. Lahore Qalandars will begin their campaign against Perth Scorchers on July 23, followed by matches against Desert Vipers (July 24), Guyana Amazon Warriors (July 26) and San Francisco Unicorns (July 29). The tournament final is scheduled for August 1.
