ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Punjab emerged as dominant forces in the men’s event, while Sindh and Punjab showcased remarkable performances in the women’s event of karate at the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad on Wednesday.
In the men’s event, KPK demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, clinching four gold medals to lead the medal tally with a total of nine medals (4 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze). Punjab followed closely, securing three gold medals. Balochistan bagged two gold medals, while Sindh claimed one. Notable victories included Punjab’s Sujal Zafar in the 67kg category and Muhammad Usman in the 84kg category, while Shahram Hussain from Balochistan earned top honours in the individual kata event.
The women’s category witnessed a fierce competition as Sindh and Punjab tied with three gold medals each. Sindh’s Nabihah Jamal (50kg) and Alisha Channa (68kg) stood out with their stellar performances, while Punjab’s Maham Batool (55kg) and Hamna Qamar (61kg) secured the top podium spots.
The event brought together six teams from across the country, reflecting the spirit of unity and sportsmanship. The closing ceremony celebrated the athletes’ achievements, with medals and trophies awarded to the winners amidst applause from spectators and officials.
