ISLAMABAD, Jun 20 (APP):Junior professional Muhammad Sahil carded a stunning five-under-par 67 to take the early lead as the 7th PGF Jinnah Development Tour teed off Thursday at the PIFFERS Golf & Country Club in Abbottabad.
The tournament, hosted by the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF), has returned with renewed vigour this year, increasing its prize money from PKR 1.5 million to PKR 2.5 million. The PGF has also slashed taxation and registration fees to encourage wider participation from second-tier professionals.
The tour, aimed at nurturing emerging golf talent in the country, features a dynamic mix of reserve and junior professionals, alongside top amateurs ranked under the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Sahil, representing PGC, impressed with a composed round of 67 (-5), setting the pace for the competition. Nadeem Ahmed of ICGC followed closely at 69 (-3), while Muhammad Sharif (KGC), Muhammad Saeed (LGG), and Shahbaz Ali (LGG) shared third at 71 (-1).
Tournament Director Maj. Rao Muhammad Ismail (Retd.) and Chief Referee Malik M. Kamran Awan are overseeing the event, ensuring fair play and smooth operations.
The PGF acknowledged the support of the Frontier Force Centre and Col. Abdul Karim, Secretary of PIFFERS Golf Club, for helping make the event possible.
The Jinnah Development Tour continues to serve as a national platform for junior and reserve professionals, along with elite amateurs to compete under championship-level conditions.
