KARACHI, Nov 11 (APP):Grace Academy School and Standard Secondary School have qualified for the final of the PCB Talent Hunt Programme for School Cricket (Karachi Region) after securing victories in their respective semifinals played at different venues.
The day’s highlight was a spectacular century by Muhammad Khan of Grace Academy School, who hammered 155 runs featuring 14 boundaries and 8 towering sixes. Majid Ali (75 with 13 fours), Muhammad Hassan (69), and M Hassan (51) also contributed valuable runs, while off-spinner Aish Malik impressed with a brilliant spell of 4 wickets for 22 runs.
In the first semifinal played at Jinnah College Ground, Grace Academy School defeated Oasis School by a massive margin of 216 runs. Batting first, Grace Academy posted 343 for 8 in 40 overs. Muhammad Khan led the charge with his 155-run knock, supported by Majid Ali (75) and Muhammad Hassan (51). For Oasis, Rehan Ali claimed 3 for 45, while Hadeez picked up 2 for 48.
In reply, Oasis School were bowled out for 127 in 24 overs. Rehan Ali remained unbeaten on 47 with 7 fours and a six, while Kaleemullah scored 36. Muhammad Waheed and Muhammad Zafar took 3 wickets each for Grace Academy.
In the second semifinal, Standard Secondary School edged past Five Star School by 18 runs. Batting first, Standard Secondary were dismissed for 137 in 27.5 overs, with Muhammad Hassan scoring 69 (9 fours, 3 sixes) and Muhammad Mudasser adding 30. For Five Star, Muhammad Anas, Murtaza Taqi, Tausif ul Hassan, and Shazil Farooqui took two wickets apiece.
In response, Five Star School were restricted to 119 all out in 25.4 overs. Ali Irtiza scored 32, Muhammad Anas remained not out on 24, and Abdullah Ahmed Butt made 21. Aish Malik starred with the ball for Standard Secondary, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs, while Yahya Aslam claimed 2 for 42.
Muhammad Hassan and Aish Malik were jointly named Man of the Match for their outstanding performances.
The final between Grace Academy School and Standard Secondary School promises to be an exciting contest as both teams head into the decider with strong momentum.
