KARACHI, Nov 14 (APP):Secretary College Education Nadeem-ur-Rahman said students should stay active in sports alongside academics, adding that efforts would be made to expand sports facilities in educational institutions. He was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the PCB Talent Hunt Program for the School Cricket Championship 2025–26, held at Jinnah Government College Nazimabad Ground here Friday.
He praised PCB’s work at the grassroots level, saying the initiative will help identify young cricketers who could eventually represent Pakistan. He added that the Nazimabad college ground is in good condition and will be further developed with PCB’s support so it can serve students from all educational institutions.
Coordinator Rahat Ali Shah briefed attendees about the tournament, while Principal Professor Kamran Kazmi thanked the guests. PS to Secretary College Education Imtiaz Pathan, RCA Karachi Coordinator Azam Khan, RCAK Joint Secretary Mohammad Touseef Siddiqui, Zone-VII President Mazhar Ali Awan, Zone-IV Vice President S.M. Asim Zahoor, Coach Owais Ahmed Rahmani, and several school teachers were also present.
Earlier, Grace Academy of Learning Secondary School defeated Standard Secondary School by 128 runs in the final to win the Karachi Region title.
Scores:
Grace Academy posted 295/7 in 40 overs. Majid Ali hit 72, Mohammad Khan 67, Mohammad Hassan 30, Asadullah 26*, and Arshman Riaz 25*. Aaish Malik took 3/24 and Yahya Aslam 2/40.
Standard Secondary School were bowled out for 167 in 31.4 overs. Soman Kabir scored 64, followed by Mohammad Hassan with 23 and Arbaz Naveed with 19. Mohammad Zafar claimed 3/24, while Majid Ali and Mohammad Hassan picked up two wickets each.
After the match, Nadeem-ur-Rahman distributed prizes. Grace Academy captain Mohammad Khan received the winners’ trophy, while Standard Secondary captain Soman Kabir accepted the runners-up trophy. Individual awards went to: best batsman: Soman Kabir, best bowler: Owais Sohail, best wicketkeeper: Mohammad Bilal, player of the tournament: Mohammad Khan, man of the final: Majid Ali
A special shield was also presented to the chief guest by Coordinator Rahat Ali Shah.
