DG SBP distributes prizes at ceremony of Punjab Jr badminton championship

LAHORE, Oct 10 (APP):Director General Sports Punjab, Muhammad Aamir Jan said the Sports Board Punjab (SBP) is giving maximum opportunities to young talented players to explore their talent.
He said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of Sports Board Punjab Junior Badminton Championship here at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Wednesday.
Development Officer Badminton Asia, Sambanthen Sivaperumal, Member Overseas Pakistani Commission, Majid Ali Chaudhry, Director Sports, SBP Hafeez Bhatti, Secretary Punjab Olympic Association Idris Haider Khawaja, Secretary Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Wajid Ali, Secretary Punjab Badminton Association Tayyab Sohail, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo and a large number of badminton players, officials and spectators were also present on this occasion.
The final of Women’s Singles U-18 category was played between Lahore’s Laiba Masood and Amal Munib while Raja Zulqarnain Haider (Hzd) and Muqsit Amir (Fsd) were the finalists in the Men’s U-18 Singles category.
Raja Zulqarnain Haider (Hzd) won the Boys Singles U-18 while Lahore’s Amal Munib got the girls single u-18 crown. The boys u-14 singles title goes to Saad Amir of Lahore. In the boys U-16 singles Raza Ali Adil of Lahore took the title whereas in the girls singles U-16 Zainab Chaudhry of Lahore and in the boys doubles U-18 Raja Zulqarnain & Tayyab Shafiq of Lahore remained triumphant.
Aamir Jan said that National Junior Championship will start from Oct 11 and after that table tennis championship will be organized. “We are also planning to hold several sports competitions at district and divisional level including Punjab Games in the coming months,” he informed.
He said establishing top class sports infrastructure in the province has been top priority of the Board. “The SBP will continue to promote sports through marvelous efforts in the province. We are collaborating with different sports associations to hold sports competitions across the province. Hundreds of young male and female players took part in these sports events”, he said.
Secretary, PBF, Wajid Ali thanked DG SBP Aamir Jan for extending all facilities for Punjab Junior Badminton Championship.
