RAWALPINDI, Jun 14 (APP):The newly elected body of Rawalpindi District Cricket Association (RDCA) has constituted various committees to promote cricket and strengthen organizational affair.
Talking to APP, RDCA Secretary Zulfiqar Ali said that practical steps were being taken to improve the association, promote cricket and ensure smooth administrative functioning.
He said that the committees were approved during an executive body meeting held on June 2, including the advisory council, discipline committee, tournament committee, junior tournament committee and umpire and scoring committee.
Asif Zaheer has been appointed chairman of the advisory council while Raja Nazakat will serve as vice president. Other members include Jahangir Akhtar, Prof Tauqeer Ahmad, Malik Muhammad Riaz, Qaiser Satti, Arshad Ali and Sudair Shah, he said.
Zulfiqar Ali told that Naveed Mushtaq Abbasi has been named chairman of the discipline committee, while he himself will serve as secretary. Other members include Ghulam Kubria, Raja Qasim Rehman, Jamshed Khan and Shahid Latif.
He added that Naveed Mushtaq Abbasi will also head the tournament committee, with Zulfiqar Ali as secretary. Members of the committee include Basharat Bhatti, Babar Ali, Muhammad Irfan and Zubair Broz.
Meanwhile, Tabarak Hussain has been appointed director of the junior tournament committee, with members including Sohail Nasir, Farooq Ahmad, Asim Ghafoor, Haris Niazi, Malik Hasnat and Raja Shahid Abbas.
Similarly, the umpire and scoring committee comprises Taimoor Kiani, Zulfiqar Ali, Qaiser Abbas, Faisal Tahir and Ghulam Mustafa.
The RDCA secretary expressed the hope that the newly formed committees would play a key role in promoting cricket in Rawalpindi, encouraging young talent and improving the standard of the game. APP/395
