PESHAWAR, Jan 19 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Khyber Green advanced to next round while defending champion Shinwari Stori and Islamia University team played a goal-less draw in the ongoing 2nd Tabdeele Football Cup being played here at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium on Saturday.
District Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. Before the start of the two matches, the players of DC Khyber Green and Khurram Shaheen of Parachinar, Kurram District, Islamia University and defending champion Shinwari Stori were introduced to the chief guest.
The first match was started on fast tempo and soon Khurram Shaheed of Parachinar, Khurram Agency took the lead in the very outset of the match. Deputy Commissioner Khyber Green and Khurram Shaheen played well against each other and made some good rallies of attack which were largely enjoyed by capacity crowd present on this occasion. This was right winger Shahid who traveled past three defenders before reaching in the danger zone and netted a fine goal.
After taking lead, Khurram Shaheen put in more pressure to double the lead and they got some easy goal scoring chances but the front-line featuring Shaheen, Javed, Imtiaz, Irfan, Haris and Wajid were failed
to double the lead.
On the other hand, DC Khyber Green managed their position according to the situation and started making some fine moves as a result it was in the 19th minute when DC Khyber Green succeeded in leveling the tally 1-1 through left winger Shaheen Khan.
At half-time both teams were locked 1-1. It was the second session in which DC Khyber Green fully dominated the proceedings and gave no room to Khurram Shaheen to strike back.
It was in the 67th minute when DC Khyber Green scored another goal on the field attempt when Shaheen, the left winger, scored his second goal through field attempt. Khurram Shaheen also tried their hard to level the tally 2-2 but failed to click and thus DC Khyber Green won the match by 2-1.
In the second match Shinwari Stori and Islamia University team played a goal-less draw as no team succeeded in scoring any goal despite having good chances. Shinwari Stori have services of international players like Saqib Hanif, the goal-keeper of the current national team, Alamgir Khan, Siraj
Khan, Atiq Shinwari, Hamza Khan but they failed to impress against a good and super-fit Islamia University team. Abdur Rehman, Ikram Ullah, Zakir and Abid supervised the match while Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah acted as match commissioner.
Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim Khan lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for holding the Cup wherein top 13 teams from all across Pakistan are taking part. He said the government is very keen to have such activities so that the youth could come forward and show their hidden talent. He said the district government has already taken initiative of various sports activities so that to bring the youth to playing grounds in their leisure times.
He said the district government would hold a grand sports festival besides other activities for the youth during 2019. He said the youth are the future builders of the nation and sports activities are vital for them.
In his welcome address, Shahid Khan Shinwari assured the District Nazim that such healthy activities would be supported so that talented youth could find a platform to show their hidden talent.
