City School wins Directorate of Sports Inter-School Peace Games overall trophy

PESHAWAR, Feb 10 (APP):City School clinched the overall
trophy after securing 96 points in the Directorate of Sports Inter-School Games
which concluded here at Hayatabad Sports Complex on Saturday.
Former International athlete Muhammad Shah, Director
National Book Foundation Murad Ali Mohmand, Director Development Saleem Raza,
international coaches Syed Jaffar Shah (Athletic), Nadeem Khan (Badminton),
Faisal Javed (Football), Fazal Khan (Karate), Sarfaraz (Archery), Taj Muhammad
(Tug-of-war), Hayat Ullah (Badminton), Saqib (Athletics), Olympian Special Nasrullah,
officials, players, parents of the participation school children in good
numbers and large number of spectators were also present.
City School secured 96 points and Rs. 10,000 as cash
prizes, followed by NCS School with 81 points and Roots School remained at
third. Both awarded Rs. 7000 and 5000 cash prizes respectively.
A total of 280 boys and girls from 12 different schools
took part in seven different games comprising Athletics, Archery, Futsal,
Badminton, Table Tennis, Karate, Tug of War organized at different venues
insides Hayatabad Sports Complex.
The most thrilling event was the boys and girls tug-of-war
which attracted good number of spectators with their cheering hands and shouting.
The team of City School captained by Manahil with other members comprising
Mehmoona, Kalsoom, Malika, Aleena, Malika, Marwa recorded victory against NCS
School Peshawar team led byu Khurana with other team comprising Fiza, Shenaiah,
Atiqa, Maham, Anum and Luba. In the Boys Tug of War City School won first
position while Pak Turk school got runners-up trophy.
Pak-Turk School got third position while Roots remained
at fourth and International Islamic University School Islamabad got fifth
position. St. Francis got seventh position, Almametoer Town, Roots Millennium
Hayatabad got eight and nine position while Little Kamp got 10th
position.
In the Archery Under-12 Girls Sahar of Little Lamp School
got gold medal, followed by Rida of the same and Nimra of Pakistan-Turk
International. In the Under-12 Boys Absar got gold medal, followed by Muhammad
Tayyub of City School and Ghazanfar of LNCS.
In the Under-16 category Maaz of ANPS got first position,
followed by Rehman Ullah of the same while Iqra of ICMS School got first
position. In the Kids Athletics 60m race Ahmad Riyan Khalil of RMS school got
first position, followed by Humana and Zoorais of the same, in the 60m boys
Shahab got gold medal, followed by Farhan and Abdur Rehman, in the 50m race
Talha, Khizar of RMS and Shayan of Pak Turk School won positions.
In the 100m Muska of NCS won gold medal, followed by
Maliha of TCS and Momina of NCS, in the 200 girls Malaika of City school won
gold medal, followed by Marwa of City School and Iqra of NCS, in the Relay race
City School got first position, followed by NCS.
In the Futsal Pak Turk School won the final, Roots got
second prize, WIUI and City School got third and fourth prizes. In the Table Tennis
Boys Muhammad Hammad of St. Frianses won winner trophy, followed by Ibrar of
City School, In Table Tennis Girls Shemina of City School won first prize,
followed by Kalsoom of NCS Hayatabad, in Badminton Yasir Ghafar beat Mikail
Amjad while in Girls Atiqa of City School won the title, followed by Marwa,
also from City School.
In Karate Muhammad Rehmani, Shakeel, Khalil, Nouman,
Hamza, Omar, Tayyub, Ahmad got first position, followed by Shayan, Asad, Khan,
Omar, Ibrahim, Asim, Shayan Khan, Bahadar while Iqra, Anum and Sameera got position
in girls karate.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies, medals,
certificates and cash prizes to the position holders. Nadeem Khan on this
occasion told APP that Director General Sports allocated funds for the School
Games so that the children of most of the schools near Hayatabad Sports Complex
to come and play games in a fully furnished sports facilities according to the
need of international standard.
