Army riders win women national cycling title

LAHORE, Dec 8 (APP)- Showing all round skills and superior technique Pakistan army’s female riders won the title of the national women cycling championship here on Tuesday at cycling velodrome.
Army’s cyclists claimed 214 points to remain unchallengeable in the three-day meet organized by Pakistan Cycling Federation and Punjab Cycling Association.SSGC secured the second place with 164 points while Wapda had to content with third place with 94 points. Army’s joy was doubled when their ace rider Sabiha was adjudged the fastest cyclist and was conferred with national champion trophy for her unmatched performance of winning 6 gold and creating one national record.

PCF also organized the national junior women cycling championship alongside the senior championship and Halima of KPK was declared the best rider of the event with 3 gold and 1 silver.As many as thirteen events were contested during the competition which were participated by all the affiliated units of the PCF including Army, Wapda, SSGC, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan,FATA and Islamabad.

PCF President Kokab Nadeeem and Secretary Syed Ali Shah welcomed the participants at the closing ceremony. Punjab Labour Minister, Raja Ishfaq Sarwar was the chief guest who presented trophies and medals to the winners and other notable performers of the championship. Also present were MPA Hafiz Mohammad Nauman, , Muhammad Razaq, Secretary, Wapda sports and Mian Tahir Saeed, Director Pakistan Sports Board.
