Ahmed not dropped from ODIs for disciplinary issues: Haroon Rasheed

ISLAMABAD, Nov 18 (APP): Chief Selector Haroon Rasheed on Wednesday discarded all speculations regarding Ahmed Shahzad having disciplinary issues which resulted in ouster of the belligerent batsman from the One Day squad against England.
According to reports, Coach Waqar Younis and other team management had benched Ahmed for One day series against England due to his behavior with them. This step was also taken to bring Ahmed back on track with more disciplined mind set so that he can comeback with only one thing (cricket) in his mind.
However talking to APP, Haroon said Ahmed had not been dropped
from the ODIs due to his behavior or any disciplinary issue. “Ahmed was
dropped from the ODI’s as he didn’t make a place in the Playing XI,” he
said adding it’s only the media that had created hype into the matter and
nothing else.
Haroon claimed Waqar had said that Ahmed was dropped from the
ODIs as he didn’t make a place in the Playing XI and will be included in the
team whenever he earns a place.
When asked that will Ahmed play in the T20s against England as he is
named in the squad, He said our duty is to form the 15-players team,
however it is up to the team management whether to include Ahmed in the
Playing XI or not.
Speaking about chances of including Umar Akmal in the T20s, Haroon
said the case is with the PCB Chairman and a decision on it is yet to be
taken.
