ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (APP): The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has constituted a committee for the promotion of athletics in the country.
The decision to form the committee was taken in Annual General Meeting (AGM) of AFP, held in Lahore on Sunday, said a press release issued here on Monday.
The meeting presided over by Maj Gen ® Muhammad Akram Sahi, President AFP was attended by all the affiliated units of AFP.
Brig ® Sultan Mahmood Satti, Chairman Promotion and development Commission AFP will be the committee’s convener, while it will have members from Army, WAPDA, Sindh, Punjab and Women Athletics Association.
The Committee will get feedback from all the units of AFP and present its proposals in the next meeting of AFP General Council.
The AGM also took the several other decisions, including holding of the National Athletics Championships 2016 in April next year. The venue for the championship will be announced later.
It was also decided that AFP will participate in the 12th South Asian Games, scheduled to be held from February 6 -16 in India 2016, but the participation in the event will be subject to government’s approval. The House was informed that full preparations are being made for participation in the forthcoming the games.
The House confirmed the minutes of the last General Council Meeting.
Muhammad Zafar Secretary, General AFP presented the report for the period from 8th December 2014 to 12th December 2015, which was unanimously adopted by the General Council.
Audited statement of the Accounts of Athletics Federation of Pakistan for the financial year 2014-2015 was presented and unanimously approved by the General Council. Besides the House also approved calendar of National and International calendar for the year 2016 and the. The House also approved participation of athletes and officials in the events to be held next year.
