ACP expresses condolences over Broad Peak avalanche tragedy
ISLAMABAD, Aug 02 (APP):The Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of several accomplished mountaineers in a devastating avalanche on Broad Peak (8,047m) in the Karakoram Range.
In a condolence message, ACP President Irfan Arshad Khan said the incident has deeply saddened the mountaineering community in Pakistan and around the world.
“This heartbreaking tragedy is an immeasurable loss to the global mountaineering fraternity,” Khan said. “These courageous climbers came from different nations united by their passion for the mountains.”
On behalf of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, he extended sincere sympathies to the bereaved families, friends, expedition organizers, and the mountaineering communities of all countries affected by the tragedy.
“We stand in solidarity with them during this time of immense grief and pray that they find strength, courage, and comfort to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
Khan also paid tribute to the teams involved in the search and recovery operation, including Pakistan Army Aviation, other elements of the Pakistan Army, Government of Gilgit-Baltistan departments, the Government of Nepal, high-altitude rescuers, Sherpas, and local climbers.
“Their courage, commitment, and selfless efforts under extremely difficult weather and terrain reflect the true spirit of humanity and mountaineering,” he said.
He noted that while the mountains inspire with their beauty, they also remind us of the immense risks faced by those who venture into the high Himalaya and Karakoram.
“The legacy of these mountaineers will continue to inspire future generations with their courage, determination, and love for the mountains,” Khan said.
Concluding his message, the ACP President prayed, “May Almighty Allah grant eternal peace to the departed souls and bestow patience and strength upon their families and loved ones.”
