Women’s Empowerment Takes Center Stage at SALU Khairpur

SUKKUR, Mar 10 (APP): A panel discussion on “Legislation About Home Based Workers and Government Policies in Sindh” was held at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur on Tuesday, marking International Women’s Day.
The event aimed to raise awareness about women’s rights, legal protection for home-based workers, and government policies promoting women’s empowerment.
SALU Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof Dr Yousuf Khushk highlighted the Sindh government’s efforts to empower women, emphasizing the need for effective legislation and policies. Speakers stressed the importance of recognizing women’s contributions, particularly in rural areas and promoting inclusive policies to protect their rights.
The event was organized by Bhittai Social Watch and Advocacy (BSWA) and FES Pakistan in collaboration with SALU’s Students Societies Center. Panellists included Advocate Khalada Riaz, Ms Huma, Deepa Kumari and Parveen Naz Shaikh.
Students and volunteers from SALU’s Women Empowerment Society and PMYDC Youth Council supported the event, which concluded with a vote of thanks.
