The Vice Chancellor (VC) University of Sindh, Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari (TI), has stressed the timely publication of research journals being published by various departments of the university and improving their quality in accordance with HEC requirements.

HYDERABAD, Sep 30 (APP): The Vice Chancellor (VC) University of Sindh, Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari (TI), has stressed the timely publication of research journals being published by various departments of the university and improving their quality in accordance with HEC requirements.
He said research journals were the identity of academic institutions and provided insight into the research activities being carried out at these institutions. He said research journals played an important role in promoting academic and research activities in higher education institutions and disseminating new research to others.
The VC said journals published in different languages helped improve the quality of research, promote new academic debates and develop research-oriented thinking among students.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, he expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held to review the status, quality and publication of research journals being published by various departments of the university.
The meeting, held at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, was attended by Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences Dr Naheed Kaka, Dean, Faculty of Law Dr Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Director ORIC Dr. Farhat Naureen, Director Finance Zeeshan Memon and Director Graduate Studies Dr Saima Qayoom Memon.
The meeting reviewed matters relating to HEC recognition of research journals published by the university, their category status and issues concerning their publication.
The vice chancellor said it was highly encouraging that 17 research journals were being published by various departments of the university.
The vice chancellor said the decisions taken at a meeting of the editors of research journals held a few days earlier should be implemented to ensure that the university could derive important benefits available on the basis of its research journals.
He said the finance department would extend full cooperation to promote the publication of research journals.
