Stakeholders urged to strengthen efforts for child protection

The District Child Protection Unit Hyderabad in collaboration with the Legal Aid Society organized an awareness program on child protection here on Wednesday to raise awareness about child protection and children’s rights.

HYDERABAD, Jul 15 (APP): The District Child Protection Unit Hyderabad in collaboration with the Legal Aid Society organized an awareness program on child protection here on Wednesday to raise awareness about child protection and children’s rights.
Participants were briefed on the fundamental principles of child protection including the concepts of good touch and bad touch, child marriage, children’s rights, violence against children and the importance of timely reporting of child abuse and negligence.
The participants were also informed about the Child Protection Helpline 1121 and the support services available for the protection of children, said a news release issued here.
The program was led by Director Social Welfare Latifabad and In-charge Child Protection Ms. Shizza Fatima and Child Protection Coordinator Ms. Ambreen, while the Legal Aid Society was represented by its Coordinator and Focal Person Zahid Ali Messo.
Emergency Officer of Rescue 1122 Hyderabad Roshan Ali Mahesar, Hatri Police representative Mehar Ali and Executive Director of Voice of Human Development Organization Ghulam Mustafa Mallah also spoke on the occasion.
The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which speakers emphasized that ensuring the protection and welfare of children requires the collective efforts of government institutions, law enforcement agencies, rescue services, legal organizations and every member of society.
The event was attended by representatives of Rescue 1122, government departments, law enforcement agencies and social organizations.
