SMIU celebrates 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations

Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) celebrated 75 years of long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China with great enthusiasm and pride on Thursday. In this regard, a flag-hoisting ceremony was also held at the university’s premises, where Vice Chancellor of SMIU Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai hoisted the national flag of Pakistan.

KARACHI, May 21 (APP): Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) celebrated 75 years of long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China with great enthusiasm and pride on Thursday. In this regard, a flag-hoisting ceremony was also held at the university’s premises, where Vice Chancellor of SMIU Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai hoisted the national flag of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, highlighted the significance of the time-tested Pakistan-China friendship and termed the bilateral relations a shining example of mutual trust, cooperation, and unwavering support. He stated that China has always stood beside Pakistan in difficult as well as peaceful times and has played a transformative role in Pakistan’s development journey.
“Our friendship is higher than the Himalayas, deeper than the sea, sweeter than honey, and stronger than steel,” Dr. Sahrai remarked.
Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai said that we are proud of the friendship between Pakistan and China, which has been established with tremendous sincerity since 1949, when China gained independence.
The Vice Chancellor further said that China has contributed immensely in the fields of infrastructure, education, technology, trade, energy, and public services from Kashgar to Karachi. Referring to the growing cooperation in science and innovation, he said the friendship of these two countries has now entered a new era, as Pakistan’s first astronaut is expected to participate in a Chinese space mission in 2026.
He urged the students to learn from China’s extraordinary progress, discipline, and commitment to national development. He said Pakistan’s youth should adopt the values of hard work, research, innovation, and collective responsibility for national prosperity.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and further strengthening of diplomatic, educational, and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
Faculty members, officers, other employees, and students of Sindh Madressatul Islam University attended the ceremony.
