KARACHI, Sep 22 (APP):Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Sindh Government is taking revolutionary measures for the education, rehabilitation and empowerment of special children.
Approximately 20,000 students are studying in 67 special educational institutions across the province. Along with free education in special educational institutions, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, speech therapy, transport, and a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000 are being provided.
He said that the establishment of 49 modern digital classrooms in 37 Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres for special children is an important development. The digital classrooms will benefit approximately 754 hearing-impaired students who were facing difficulties in accessing special educational facilities.
He said that through 20 satellite schools established across Sindh, approximately 476 such children will have educational opportunities. Smart boards, e-learning tools and modern educational facilities have been provided in the digital classrooms. The government’s measures will increase access to modern teaching resources for special children.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the purpose of the 20 satellite schools is to take education to those areas where access of special children to special education centres is limited.
The government has launched a Sign Language Teachers Training Programme, which will increase the professional capacity of teachers. Expanding digital classrooms, satellite schools and the Sign Language Teachers Training Programme is included among the government’s priorities.
