KARACHI, Aug 28 (APP): In the presence of Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi and Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, a signing ceremony was held at Governor House Karachi, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NED University of Engineering and Technology and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) for partnership in the technology sector.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said that the ceremony marked an important step towards Pakistan’s digital future.
He said that to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of a Digital Pakistan, modern technology and digital opportunities must not remain limited to major cities. People living in remote and underdeveloped areas of Sindh should also benefit from technological advancement.
He said that the partnership between NED University and PSEB was a positive development for Pakistan’s national semiconductor sector.
He said that under the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Programme, students would receive opportunities for semiconductor education, research, capacity building and practical training through university-level semiconductor training programmes. These initiatives would enable students to gain practical knowledge of advanced semiconductor technologies as well as opportunities in research and design.
The Governor said that stronger cooperation between universities and the technology industry would provide students with better opportunities to acquire modern skills according to industry requirements.
He said that this collaboration would help produce a new generation of skilled semiconductor professionals in Pakistan who could contribute to strengthening the country’s technology industry, creating new employment opportunities and improving Pakistan’s competitiveness in the global technology market.
Hashmi said that the world was rapidly moving towards artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing and the digital economy. Pakistan must prepare its youth not merely to use technology but to create and develop technology.
He said that the youth of Sindh possess tremendous potential and, if provided with opportunities, training and a world-class environment, they could help Pakistan achieve a prominent position in the global technology sector.
The Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi congratulated the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, Universal Service Fund, Pakistan Software Export Board, NED University and all other relevant institutions for taking these important national initiatives.
He said that Governor House Sindh would continue to encourage initiatives aimed at promoting digital inclusion, youth development, education and modern technology. The Governor of Sindh said that Pakistan must work collectively to build a digital future where geographical distances do not become barriers to development and every young person has an opportunity to move forward.
