KARACHI, Aug 11 (APP):Sindh Governor, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah have paid tribute to valuable contributions of minority communities to the development and progress of the country on the occasion of National Minorities Day.
They said that the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s historic August 11 address laid the foundation of religious freedom, equality and the protection of minority rights in the country.
They said Quaid-e-Azam had envisioned a Pakistan where every citizen would enjoy religious freedom, equal rights, dignity and respect.
The Governor and the Chief Minister said that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights and religious freedom to every citizen without discrimination.
They stressed that protecting the lives and property of minority communities, their places of worship and their religious freedom was a fundamental responsibility of the state.
All minority communities living in Pakistan are equal partners in the country’s development, prosperity and national unity. They further said that religious harmony, tolerance, mutual respect and equality were the foundations of a strong, united and prosperous Pakistan.
