SALU forms eight committees for reforms, internship

SUKKUR, Jun 02 (APP): Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, on Tuesday has constituted eight high level committees to accelerate academic reforms, introduce a university-wide internship policy and streamline examinations and admissions for the 2026-27 session.
The committees were formed at a meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Yousuf Khushk at the Syndicate Hall of the University. The meeting was attended by deans and senior administrative officers. The initiative is in line with Higher Education Commission guidelines and the university’s institutional priorities.
The Internship Policy Committee, headed by Prof Dr Minhoon Khan Laghari, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, will formulate a uniform internship policy, establish a Students’ Internship Office, and identify placement opportunities in public and private sectors.
Prof Dr Mushtaque Ahmed Jakhrani, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, will convene the Academic Council Agenda Committee to review curriculum, academic regulations and proposals for new programmes.
The Syndicate Agenda Committee, under Prof Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences, will monitor implementation of Syndicate decisions and prepare draft statutes and regulations.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Wahid Bux Jatoi will head the Senate Agenda Committee to finalise Senate agenda items and ensure follow-up on previous decisions.
A committee led by Prof Dr Iram Rani Shaikh has been tasked with preparations for the forthcoming visit of the Charter Inspection & Evaluation Committee.
Controller of Examinations Nazir Ahmed Phulpoto will oversee arrangements for Annual Examinations 2026, including declaration of results, scheduling, and printing of question papers.
Prof Dr Ghulam Mustafa Mashori will convene the Admissions Committee 2026-27 to supervise online admissions, merit transparency and student facilitation under the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy.
Dr Munir Ahmed Qazi will head the Postgraduate Admissions Committee to review PG admission policies, while Dr Rafaquat Hussain Arain has been assigned to present an action plan for improvement in ORIC ranking.
Vice Chancellor Dr Khushk directed all conveners and deans to submit daily progress briefings until June 5 to ensure timely implementation of assigned tasks.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Maqsood Zia, Dean Prof Dr Liaquat Ali Chandio, Registrar Muhammad Hassan Halepoto, and other officials attended the meeting.
Participants appreciated the vice chancellor’s efforts for promoting quality education, research culture, and institutional development at the university.
