Railways Minister meets freight business partners in Karachi

Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, on Friday met freight business partners in Karachi to discuss measures to enhance business activities and improve freight services.

KARACHI, Aug 28 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, on Friday met freight business partners in Karachi to discuss measures to enhance business activities and improve freight services.
Speaking at the meeting held at DS Pakistan Railways Karachi Office, the Minister said the interaction with business partners would prove an important step towards expanding commercial activities in the freight sector.
Hanif Abbasi said the decision not to increase freight rates had been taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, adding that the business community would be provided with all possible facilities.
He said freight transportation would be given priority and the government would meet all feasible demands of the business community.
The Minister said sufficient rolling stock would be available for freight business by December 31st, enabling Pakistan Railways to improve freight transportation services. He also directed the authorities to prepare a feasibility study for establishing a mechanized terminal at Jumma Goth.
