Mayor Karachi inaugurates KMC Sports Complex in Landhi Town After Renovation

KARACHI, Aug 09 (APP): Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the KMC Sports Complex in Landhi Town following its renovation and refurbishment. Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Karamullah Waqasi, members of the City Council, elected representatives and a large number of citizens were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the establishment of a modern sports complex for citizens in Landhi Town was a welcome initiative. He said the complex would provide modern and quality sports facilities to citizens, particularly young people from Landhi and adjoining areas, within their own locality.
He said that the KMC Sports Complex had been equipped with modern facilities for various sports, while a swimming pool would also be available to citizens. Facilities for martial arts training and other sports had also been provided for young people so that they could develop and showcase their abilities.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the residents of Landhi would now have access to modern facilities for healthy recreation and sports activities at one location. The availability of sports facilities would provide young people with greater opportunities to showcase their talents and advance in the field of sports.
The Mayor said that connecting the younger generation with sports grounds was essential for building a healthy society. Sports were important not only for physical health but also for encouraging young people towards positive activities and developing discipline, teamwork and a competitive spirit among them.
He said that KMC was improving sports infrastructure in different parts of the city and providing quality sports facilities to citizens in their own localities was among the priorities of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
He added that along with sports, special attention had also been given to promoting healthy and positive activities at the sports complex so that citizens, particularly children and young people, could channel their energies into constructive activities.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the doors of public spaces must be opened to the people of Karachi.
Ordinary citizens, the poor and the middle class should also have access to recreational and public spaces, as not everyone could afford to visit expensive restaurants or clubs.
He said that there was a need to open the doors of public facilities to the people of Karachi so that citizens from different parts of the city could benefit from them. He said that people from areas including Landhi, Shah Faisal, Korangi and Malir should also have access to recreational and public facilities.
