KARACHI, Oct 08 (APP): The Department of English at the University of Karachi, in collaboration with the Marful Hadees Group and under the supervision of Mufti Muhammad Irfan Anwer Shaikhani, conducted an educational event titled “The Sunnah of the Prophet” at the department premises.
The Marful Hadees Group was initiated to dedicate and sharing authentic Ahadees and promoting awareness of the Sunnah of the Prophet. The group currently has more than 13,000 members from over 44 different countries, reflecting its international reach and growing engagement with authentic Islamic teachings.
The event was organized by Assistant Professor Dr Bushra Ahmed Khurram of the KU Department of English and attracted more than 350 female students from various departments across the University of Karachi, reflecting strong institutional engagement with values-based educational programming.
The programme was structured as a 30-minute interactive display held at the Conference Room of the Department of English, with sessions repeated throughout the day. This format ensured maximum accessibility and participation among the student body.
The Head of the KU Department of English Dr Iftikhar Shafi conveyed his hope that students and faculty from both the Department of English and the University of Karachi would benefit from the programme.
Mufti Muhammad Irfan Anwer Shaikhani, who personally attended and supervised the event, highlighted the most significant benefit of the programme: “The biggest benefit of this programme was that the university students learned how and what things were used in the blessed life of the Prophet. Secondly, it showed that they are deeply interested in such activities.” He noted the deep interest demonstrated by students in engaging with such educational initiatives.
He further emphasized the critical role of women in society and the transmission of knowledge across generations: “A woman is a whole house and a whole society. So if they know all these things about the blessed Sunnah of the Prophet, then they will definitely prefer what is there and keep it at the top of the list so that our future generations can follow it.”
Dr Bushra Ahmed Khurram expressed her satisfaction with the overwhelming response from participants. She said that the encouraging feedback from participants reflected their deep interest in learning about the Sunnah of the Prophet. She expressed hope that the event would inspire students to incorporate the teachings of the Sunnah into their daily lives and to recognize the relevance of these teachings to contemporary academic and personal contexts.
