Independence Day Celebrations on Full Swing Across Sukkur

SUKKUR, Aug 12 (APP):The spirit of patriotism is at its peak in Sukkur as the city gears up to celebrate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

In this connection, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Sukkur Campus on Wednesday organized a remarkable event to commemorate Pakistan’s Independence Day and to celebrate the success of the Joint Defence Agreement.

Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh participated as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Vice Chancellor DUET, faculty members, students, and a large number of citizens.

The ceremony began with flag hoisting, followed by the national anthem and prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Students presented national songs, tableaus and speeches highlighting the struggle of the independence movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh said that Independence Day is a day to renew our pledge to serve the nation with honesty and dedication.

He said that the Pakistan was achieved after great sacrifices, and it is our collective responsibility to make it strong, developed and prosperous. The youth are our future, and institutions like DUET are playing a vital role in building a knowledgeable and skilled Pakistan.”

He congratulated the management of DUET for organizing a befitting event and lauded the success of the Joint Defence Agreement, terming it a major milestone for the Muslim Ummah and regional peace.

The Mayor added that Sukkur Municipal Corporation has decorated the city with national flags, lights and banners, and various programs have been lined up to celebrate Independence Day with full national zeal and fervor.

At the end, the Chief Guest distributed prizes among the students who performed brilliantly and cut a cake to mark the Independence Day celebrations.

The event concluded with a special prayer for the security, unity and development of Pakistan.
