KARACHI, Apr 30 (APP):Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi formally inaugurated Thalassemia Week at the Governor House. On the occasion, he emphasized that awareness and preventive measures regarding Thalassemia are of critical importance.
Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi stated that only Allah grants healing, while the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) encompass principles of health and well-being. He noted that many diseases emerge due to lack of awareness, negligence, and carelessness.
He said that advancements in medical science over the past two centuries have made early diagnosis of conditions like Thalassemia possible, whereas in the past, lack of awareness hindered proper treatment. He added that scientists have identified thalassemia as a hereditary blood disorder.
Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi further stated that modern research and treatment have created hope for improved health outcomes in children affected by thalassemia. He appreciated the services of Sundas Foundation, acknowledging its significant role in patient care.
He stressed the importance of raising awareness among young couples about pre-marital thalassemia screening and highlighted that timely medical testing is a responsibility linked to health awareness.
