GIMS Gambat restores farmer’s life with free double valve surgery

SUKKUR, Jun 16 (APP): Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) has once again demonstrated its commitment to free healthcare by successfully performing a double valve replacement surgery on a farmer from rural Sindh, enabling him to return to a productive life without financial burden.

The patient, a farmer by profession, underwent the complex cardiac procedure at GIMS one year ago under the supervision of Dr Hosh Muhammad Bughio, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon. On Tuesday, he is healthy, working in his fields, and supporting his family, a outcome that underscores the institute’s patient centered approach.

“Cardiac surgery demands commitment, precision and perseverance. But the smiles and success stories of our patients make every effort worthwhile,” Dr. Bughio said while reviewing the farmer’s case during a follow up visit at the institute.

Hospital’ Media Consultant Jameel Hyder said GIMS routinely performs over 2 million procedures completely free of cost for patients from across Pakistan. The institute provides cardiac, liver transplant and other specialized treatments without charging patients, relying on provincial funding and donor support.

According to Dr Bughio, in this gentleman’s case, a surgery that costs millions in private hospitals was done entirely free. Moments like these remind us that behind every operation is a life restored, a family supported and a future made brighter, he added.

GIMS Gambat, established as Pakistan’s largest free liver transplant and cardiac surgery center, continues to attract patients from Sindh, Punjab, and other provinces who cannot afford treatment elsewhere.
