Crackdown on Drug addicts & professional Beggars continues in Karachi; 38 arrested
KARACHI, Sep 30 (APP): On the directives of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, the Karachi administration’s campaign against drug addicts and professional beggars across the city is continuing.
According to a handout issued by the Commissioner Karachi Office, Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad Javeria Ashraf, with the assistance of police, conducted an operation in various areas of Ferozabad Sub-Division and detained 38 drug addicts and professional beggars.
The detained individuals were immediately handed over to the Edhi Home for rehabilitation, care and support.
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi said that the administration’s efforts to eliminate professional begging and rehabilitate drug addicts in the city would continue. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to take effective measures to prevent professional begging and address the issue of drug addiction, while ensuring the rehabilitation of those affected.
The Commissioner said professional beggars are a source of inconvenience and harassment for citizens and directed the Deputy Commissioners to take appropriate measures to curb the practice and facilitate rehabilitation.
